AN APPLIED STUDY ON COMPARING PIGMENT AND DYESTUFF IN FINE PAPER

In the production of fine paper, the shade is one of the important properties. The fine paper shade and its colour matching technique were studied in this paper. The combination of dyes/FWAs and pigments/FWAs were used in the process of tinting fine paper. The results showed that two combinations could reach the same effect and higher shade was obtained by using the combination of pigments/FWAs in high brightness fine paper (CIE=155).The optimal dosage of dyes/FWAs was direct violet 0.12kg/t (on oven dried pulp), direct blue0.08 kg/t (on oven dried pulp), FWA11 kg/t and the optimal dosage of pigments/FWAs was pigment violet 0.2 kg/t(on oven dried pulp), pigment blue0.03 kg/t (on oven dried pulp), FWA7.5 kg/t (on oven dried pulp). The cost of tinting decreased as the dosage of FWAs reduced.
