STUDY ON PREPARATION OF PPTA PULP
Poly (para-phenylene terephalamide)(PPTA) pulp has excellent properties as wet-processability and reinforcing ability, but still keeps many advantage of PPTA fiber. So it is used wildly in gaskets and friction papers. Fibrils of pulp provide mechanical interlocking and strength of PPTA paper without binders. In this paper, PPTA fiber was fibrillated by PFI mill and were analyzed the properties of pulp. The result showed that PPTA fiber was mainly beat under axial direction stress, the fibrils were shed away along axial direction. Specific surface area of the fibrillated PPTA pulp greatly increased to 11m2/g and drainability of pulp was improved.
