MICRO-STRUCTURE ANALYSIS OF ANAEROBIC GRANULAR SLUDGE IN WASTEWATER TREATMENT OF PAPER-MAKING TOBACCO LEAF
Mature anaerobic granular sludge with stable remove rate of CODCr and BOD5 was gotten from the plot-scale anaerobic reactor of paper-making tobacco leaf wastewater. Focused on the micro-structure of the granular sludge, the whole size, pore size distributions and pore-throats ratio of the anaerobic granular sludge were studied by laser-diffraction instrument and mercury intrusion analyses. It was found that the volume weighted mean diameter D (4,3)of the particles was 487.5μm, the mode size of the pores in the particle was 17nm and the total surface area was 7.4251m2/g. There were few particles bigger than 1.2mm, and the pore-throats were less than 10% because of the natural adaptation. The conclusion that the mass transferring resistance plays a minor role contrasting to the bio-degradation for the whole reaction as a result of natural adaptation provided the theoretical and practical base for anaerobic systems.
