CHARACTERISTICS OF ABR AS HYDROLYTIC ACIDIFICATION REACTOR IN PAPERMAKING EFFLUENT TREATMENT

ABR was conducted to treat the recycle effluent from papermaking as hydrolytic acidification reactor. The effect of HRT and pH value on the parameter of the influent in each compartment of ABR was studied at normal temperature. The results showed that the variation of HRT did not affect too much on the ph value in each compartment, but the COD removal rate and VFA concentration level showed the different changing characteristics at different HRT. The biodegradability was the highest and the BOD/COd value reached to 0.57 when the HRT was 6h. The pH of influent had a dramatic effect on the efficiency of the reactor, and the acidic condition was better than the neutral and alkaline condition. The COD removal rate and VFA concentration value showed the different characteristic under each condition. The best result can be obtained when the pH value of influent was 6.
