HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM ADSORPTION ON SPHERICAL LIGNOSULPHONATES RESIN
A spherical lignosulphonates resin (RLS), which was obtained from lignosulphonates by reversed phase suspension polymerization, was used for the uptake of hexavalent chromium in aqueous solution. The influences of initial chromium concentration, pH of the solution and temperature on the removal efficiency or adsorption capacity were investigated, and the adsorption kinetics and isotherm were also studied. It was found that the adsorption process of hexavalent chromium on RLS followed the Langmiur model. The maximum adsorption capacity 25℃, calculated from Langmuir model was 19.50mg/g (dry). Although the adsorption rate was low at rooM temperature, RLS exhibited good adsorption affinity for hexavalent chromium at high temperature and low pH.
