REPULPING CHARACTERISTICS OF WASTEPAPER AT HIGH CONSISTENCY WITH HELICAL REPULPER
High consistency repulping characteristics of wastepaper are influenced by many factors, such as the consistency of recycled pulp, the kinds of wastepaper. The circulation, mixing, defibering and friction forces are characterized during the repulping of wastepaper in a 15L laboratory helical repulper. Defibering is found to follow a first order kinetic model. The shear factor is applied to characterize the friction forces in the helical repulper. With the increase in the consistency of pulp suspension in the repulper, the efficiency of defibering is increased, and the contaminant comminution is decreased. In the course of repulping, the average fiber length is almost unchanged.
