TWO KINDS OF NOVEL METHODS TO MEASURE THE LINTING AND DUSTING OF OFFSET PAPER
Dusting and linting is one of the most troublesome problem associated with offset paper11.Since dust and fiber particles loosen from the paper surface and adhere to the printing blanket. These lint particles will eventually cause deterioration of the printed images. The cleaning process cost money and time so the printers are keen on solving this problem. Because of this problem it is important that there exists methods that can predict a papers tendency to shed loose and weakly bonded particles in the printing press. In this paper, 2 kinds of novel different methods which were ameliorated by STFI for measuring dusting and linting of offset paper were introduced. Comparing with conventional IGT (Picking Resistance) test method, those novel methods are easy operated and more reliable and correspond with the results of press room.
