IMPROVING LINERBOARD PROPERTIES OF HIGH HUMIDITY PERFORMANCE WITH ENZYMATIC TREATMENT
There is a need to improve the anti-humidity strength properties of the linerboard to retain and improve its competitive advantages in the international market place. The strength properties change of linerboard treated with the crude cellulase in the different humidity conditions is investigated for this purpose. Results showed that the enzyme-treating may serve as a means to increase the physical strength of linerboard at 50% and 80%RH. The optimal conditions are enzyme dosage 0.4 IU/g, pH 4.8, enzyme-treatment temperature 50℃, enzyme-treatment time 30min and stock consistency 3%. As compared to the strength properties of enzyme-treatment linerboard with that of the unenzyme-treatment linerboard at 50%RH and 80%RH, the ring crush index increases 13.6%, the tensile index increases 10% and the burst index increases 3.9%.
