2-D Simulation Analysis on Circumferential Corrosion Defects Detection Based on RFEC in Ferromagnetic Pipeline

According to the principles of finite element (FE),a simplified simulation model for two-dimensional (2-D) finite element analysis of circumferential corrosion defects responses for the remote field eddy current (RFEC) technique is proposed.Simulation calculations have been used for analysis of eddy current field distribution in corrosion region as well as for prediction of receiver signal phase dependence on influencing factors (electrical conductivity of components, filling coefficient),and for selection of test frequency. In this study, numerical simulations are carried out in axisymmetric configurations to clarify the effect of RFEC and can probe the defects. The results of simulations were represented herein and may be as a reference for the practical RFEC inspection of corrosion.
