Degradation and Its Mechanism of Reactive Turquoise Blue with Copper-Plating Iron Inner Electrolysis--Photocatalysis Combined Process

1. Introduction The textile industry is expanding rapidly in the world especially in China. it is necessary to develop effective and low-cost wastewater treatment methods. In this paper, we combined the iron internal electrolysis process and photocatalytic oxidation technology to deal with dye wastewater. The disadvantages of each can be remedied effectively. Iron chips was treated by CuSO4 solution, then metal copper was reduced and was deposited on the surface of iron chips. Moreover, Cu2O was found existing in the metal copper layer. Under irradiation of visible light, the electrode potential of the internal electrolysis is augmented, and the electrocorrosion pace was accelerated, the reaction time of dye degradation was shortened.·OH radical was confirmed in the system.
