Fe-Al-Ce nano-adsorbent granulation by spray-coating in a fluidized bed for fluoride removal from drinking water
1. Introduction Fluoride presented in water is an essential element for human health, but the excess intake of fluoride causes severe dental or skeletal fluorosis 1. Adsorption is considered as an efficient technology for fluoride removal from drinking water. Many adsorbents are synthesized as fine powders or hydroxide floc in the range of nanometers to micrometers, the use of which is quite limited due to the low hydraulic conductivity in packed bed. Therefore, it is essential to produce granules with high compressive strength. This paper showed Fe-Al-Ce nano-adsorbent was coated onto glass beads by using the acrylic-styrene copolymer latex as a binder in a fluidized bed.
