Kinetic study of Alginic Acid Fibers Adsorption of Cationic Blue from Aqueous Solution

1. Background With the development of synthetic dyes, dyes have been widely used in many industries, e.g. textiles, plastics, cosmetics, pulp manufacture, tanning. Textile industry is prosperous in many developing countries, and produces large quantity of dye bearing waste water. Many technologies have been tried to remove dyes from waste water. Due to the specific structure of various kinds of organic dyes, many dyes are toxic to some extent and some of them are even carcinogenic and mutagenic since the raw materials of them containing hazardous chemical ingredient such as benzidine, metals and so on. Another character of organic dyes is that many dyes are resistant to fading on exposure to light, water, heat and even oxidation agents. So the discharge of dye bearing waster water causes serious annoying problems in the global world.
