Occurrence of Perfluorochemicals in Taihu Lake Area and the Possible Measures
Perfluorochemicals(PFCs) are a family of new persisted organic pollutants which were ubiquitously distributed in the water environment after fifty years of utilization as popular industrial materials. In this paper, instrumental analysis by UPLC-MS/MS was applied to evaluate the surface water pollution by PFC in the Taihu Lake area (TLA) of China. PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) was found the primary contaminants of PFCs in the lake water, which is similar to the monitoring results in Lake Biwa area (LBA) in Japan. Industrial point sources of PFC contaminants were suspected existing in LBA as well as in TLA. Treatment methods screened for PFC control in LBA were also discussed for their possible application in TLA. Current measures of industrial reformation in TLA were helpful to alleviate the pressure of PFC contamination in local water environment.
