A Study on the Heterogeneous Reaction of NO2 on Sea Salt Particles

Background Big and mega cities off the China Sea are severe polluted. Coexisting of high level NO2 and sea salt is common. NO2 is trend to hydrolyze on the surface of sea salt particles under humid air condition. This process was suspected to be one of the sources of HONO which is oxidant of high importance in air chemistry. Besides, reaction between sea salt particles and HNO3 was considered to have fully explain chlorine deficit in marine area and be one of the nitrogen nutrition sources of the seal, but concentration of NO2 is definitely higher than that of HNO3, the heterogeneous reaction may be underestimated as the reason of chlorine deficit and nitrogen nutrition. So, evaluation of the importance of the heterogeneous reaction is agent.
