Impact of air pollution control measures and weather conditions on asthma during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing

Introduction To fulfill its commitment to a successful 2008 Olympic and Paralympics Games,the Chinese government made unprecedented efforts to improve the air quality in Beijing,one of worlds worst polluted cities. The 2008 Beijing Olympics provided a unique opportunity to evaluate the public health benefits of air pollution reduction.We report findings on air pollution meteorology and outpatient visits for asthma among adults in Beijing during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
