Development of novel evanescent wave biosensor for detection of DNA
@Evanescent wave fiber optic biosensors have been developed to determine various trace amounts of targets interest based on the principle of total internal reflect fluorescent (TIRF)1-3, which boast promising advantages such as feasible miniaturization, sensitivity, cost-effectiveness, and rapid measurements. Previously, we developed a prototype set-up of evanescent wave all-fiber biosensor, in which both the transmission of the excitation light and the collection and transmission of the fluorescence are achieved by fiber optics through the single-multi fiber optic coupler. Here we used this all-fiber bioassay read-out system to develop a novel DNA biosensor, which could detect DNA with a linear calibration curve observed in the 1 nM to 10 μM range.
