SEISMIC ASSESSMENT AND REINFORCEMENT OF GUANG MINARET
This paper presents a study on seismic assessment and reinforcement of Guang Minaret in Huaisheng Mosque. First, material strength of the minaret was tested and seismic response was calculated. Then, two types of shape memory alloy (SMA) dampers were designed and produced, and repeated cyclic loading-unloading tensile tests were made on them to acquire their mechanical characteristics. Using the two types SMA dampers, a seismic strengthening plan was made and the seismic response of strengthened minaret was calculated. According to the calculation results, this strengthening plan can help effectively reduce the minaret’s earthquake action.
