SPECTRAL ANALYSIS APPROACH OF ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIONS ON CONCRETE STRUCTURES
The durability problems of concrete structures are generally attributed to the environmental actions. Considering the variations of environmental elements possess the characteristics of spectrum, the spectral analysis philosophy is introduced to analyze and investigate the environmental actions on concrete structure. Based on the environmental element monitoring information, sub-spectrum for every environmental element is generated for a specific time process, and the environmental action spectrum is easily generated by interpolation and numerical integration of all the sub-environmental spectrums. An example of concrete carbonization spectrum analysis shows that it is feasible to adopt spectrum analysis method to investigate the environmental action on concrete structures. Since the real-time values that reflect the influences of environmental elements variation are used, spectral analysis method can give much more reliable estimate of environmental actions than conventional definite value parameter model method. It seems that spectral analysis can be a promising novel method for the environmental action and durability research of concrete structures.
