EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON COMPOSITE DECK OF THROUGH TIED-ARCH BRIDGE
This research studies the mechanical behaviours of composite deck of through tied-arch composite bridge on high-speed railway. Both a model test and a numerical finite element analysis (FEA) were conducted. Relevant information about the models, loading procedure and test scheme were presented. Displacements and stresses of the composite deck under full-bridge uniform load and half-bridge uniform load were analyzed. The results show that the bridge has large stiffness and good capacity of resisting load. The mechanical behaviours of tied-beams and the longitudinal beams under half-bridge uniform load are worse than those under full-bridge uniform load. And it’s the opposite for the mechanical behaviours of the transverse beams. For the transverse beams, their stresses caused by out-of-plane bending moments decrease after box sections were adopted. The concrete slab endures both axial tensile force and bending moments under vertical loads. The results of the numerical analysis are in very good agreement with those of the model test. It is expected that the results presented in this paper would be useful as references for future research and design of through tied-arch composite bridge.
