EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SHEAR STRENGTHENING OF RC BEAMS WITH CFRP SHEETS ON THE SIDE FACES
The CFRP sheets bonded on the sides of RC beams generally have the same strengthening effectiveness and it also is a new style strengthening method. The behavior of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with Carbon Fiber Reinforced plastics (CFRP) is investigated. Eight beams are fabricated and retrofitted with three different CFRP sheets. All beams are loaded to failure, and different failure modes are obtained in the ultimate load. The effect of shear strengthening is discussed based on testing results.
