MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR COMPARISONS OF THE BURIED CORRUG- ATED STEEL PLATE BRIDGES WITH VARIOUS ARCH AXIS SHAPES
For studying the mechanical behavior of buried corrugated steel plate bridges with various arch axis shapes under different depths of soil cover, some actual parameters of a bridge in Inner Mongolia of China are selected. For convenience, the simplified two-dimensional plane strain model is established considering the soil-structure interaction effects. In this model the span of the bridge and the live load are fixed and eight kinds of depths of soil cover are considered as dead load. Then the internal force, reaction force and deformation of the soil-steel bridges with various arch axis shapes such as semi-circular arch, 136° arch, low profile arch and high profile arch are calculated. The mechanical properties of bridges with these shapes are analyzed by comparing with each other. The summaries of the advantages of each shape considering both the mechanical behaviors and the service functions are given. It is shown from the comparison and the analysis that determining a reasonable arch axis shape needs to consider the mechanical properties and the service functions comprehensively.
