A STUDY FOR CONCRETE CRACK WIDTH MODEL DUE TO REINFORCEMENT RUST EXPANSION
Since steel reinforcement corrosion will cause splitting cracks longitudinal the concrete cover, spalling even scaling in concrete, it is one of the most significant factors that affect the durability of reinforced concrete structures. Based on elastic-plastic theory and steel corrosion products volume filling theory, the corrosive crack extension process was analyzed in this paper. According to the cylinder corrosion cracking model of reinforced concrete, the relationship between the steel corrosion rate and the crack width was established after corrosive cracking occurs in concrete. The comparison of theoretical values and experimental results indicates that the calculated values of this model are in good agreement with the experimental results, and the corrosion rate and the crack width model derived in this paper can be used in the durability assessment of reinforced concrete structures.
