SEISMIC RESPONSE ANALYSIS OF HIGH EMBANKMENT

By selecting typical high embankment as the object to study, treating soil body as linear elastic material, establishing finite element model, inputting EL Centro Wave to high embankment, applying Geoslope QUAKE/W, the discipline that stress and displacement varies inside high embankment under seismic load, as well as the discipline that displacement and acceleration varies with time were analyzed. The result show that, with the increasing of filling high, under the same seismic wave, the displacement, stress and acceleration of embankment increase. At different embankment high, the vibration period and phase position of transversal acceleration and vertical acceleration primarily keeps in step with that of seismic wave inputted. Because of the bottom restrict, the peak value of acceleration gradually decreases with the increasing of the height of embankment. The maximum of instantaneous acceleration at the top surface surpasses that of seismic wave inputted. The suggestions are proposed that the height of embankment should be controlled in multiple seismic area and reinforced measures should be used while the filling height exceeds admissible value.
