INFLUENCE OF SEA SAND ON THE HYDRATION BEHAVIOR OF CEMENT BASED MATERIALS
The deterioration of mechanical properties for reinforced concrete structure is caused by many factors, corrosion of steel bar is one of important factors. In coastal region, the corrosion due to Chloride ions from sea sand is a typical form, either from deicing salt or sea water. First all, the chloride ions will effect the hydration procedure of cement-based materials greatly. In this study, the influence of the sea sand on the hydration behaviour of cement based materials is discussed; the strength, hydration heat releasing, setting time, hydration process and micro-structure are studied and interpreted. The results show that chloride ions in sea sand will accelerate the hydration process of cement materials and chloride ions adsorbed on the surface of sea sand particles can not dissolve absolutely into water after mixing.
