Noninvasive in Vivo Phenotyping of Seipin Mouse by 7T MRI
Lipodystrophies are clinically heterogeneous acquired or inherited disorders characterized by selective loss of adipose tissue. Noninvasive in vivo phenotyping of adipose tissue deposits in small animal models of disease is studied using 7T MRI. By pseudo image and multi-weight MRI methods, images showed that the fat of seipin mice was virtually absent comparing with WT mice. 3D small animal visualization system for 7T MR developed in this project facilitates to obtain desired feature of interest with stroke-based classification method. Student’s t-test statistic result was used to confirm that total fat and subcutaneous fat were less in seipin mice than that of WT mice. However, the visceral fat difference was not found in this experiment. In a word, based on 7T MRI, the study gave more reliable information on location and lipid content of tissue about seipin mice, which is very important to explore the pathophysiological characteristics of this disease.
