Application Research of Monte Carlo Method on Radiation Field of Medical Linac
Monte Carlo (MC) method can simulate the whole process of interaction between particles and material to derive these macroscopic parameters, such as the distribution of particle fluencies, the absorbed dose distribution et al at the statistical significant level, which satisfy the investigators to optimize the system parameter and improve the design of parts and system structure for a medical Linac. In this paper, two applications are introduced: one is used for the high-energy X-ray filter design for China-made high-energy medical Linac BJ-20, another is used on the research for simulation of BJ-14 electron radiation field. From the research results, one can see that the MC simulation is an efficient tool for design and optimization for these key components in a Linac radiation system, which also provides a very clear picture of particle transport process. This work is very meaningful for those who are working in R&D for LINAC.
