Study on hierarchical production planning for single machine systems

A two-tiered hierarchical production planning model with sequence-independent family setup time,including aggregate production planning (APP) and family disaggrcgation planning (FDP),is proposed in this paper for a multi-product,single machine production system. In APP,the constraints about inventory,backorder and regular time are revised according to practical situation;and in FDP,the resulted APP in the first period is decomposed into detailed lot sizing plan for each product family in each sub-period and is guaranteed for completion. Two types of feedback information are adopted to adjust the aggregate plan at different stages of a period. The performance of the model is validated with data from an enterprise.
