Study on lead-free easy-cutting brass
A lead-free brass containing the Mg and Se are designed,which is completely lead-free.Experiments showed that cutting per formance of the lead-free brass is similar to the C3600,and its mechanical properties,such as tensile strength,elongation are superior to the C3600. Analysis on the microstrueture and tissue showed that the cutting performance depended on Mg.Mg can form into the fragile compounds dispersing in the grain boundaries or inside grains. Therefore,it can improve the cutting property.Results showed that the new alloy possess excellent mechanical properties and preferable maehinability.
