Effect of deformation processing and heat treatment on microstructure of spray-deposited Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy
In this study,a high strength Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy was prepared by the spray deposition technique. The structural characteris tics of spray-deposited alloy and their development during subsequent hot extrusion and roiling were investigated by means of scanning electron microscope(SEM),transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction. The results indicate that the microstructure of the alloy mainly is composed of the A1 matrix,the Mg(ZnCu)2 compounds with various shape. The fragmentation of the Mg(ZnCu)2 pha ses in the alloy has been regarded as one of the main feature during extrusion and rolling. The effect of homogenization treatment on the microstructure of spray-deposited AI-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys was investigated. After homogenization,the coarsening of the grains in the micro structure is not obvious,a phase transformation of primary Mg(ZnCu)2 particles to Al2 CuMg phase was found.
