Al-Li alloys prepared by molten salt electrolysis method
It is important for development of a simply and cost effective process for production of Li-AI alloys used as lithium-air battery anode material.In present work,Li-Al alloys used as lithium-air battery anode material were prepared by Molten salt electrolysis method. In the system of molten LiCl-KCl-LiF with molar compositions of 55%-45%-5%,And Li-Al alloys were formed. The actual decomposi tion voltage in the process of electrolysis was measured by continuous pulse-oscillograph. And the effects of influencing factors,such as temperature,electrolysis time,cell voltage and current density,etc.were all studied. The characteristics of Li-Al alloys were analyzed by XRD,Atomic Absorption Spectrometry and SEM.It was found that the actual decomposition voltage decreased with increasing temper ature. The factors mentioned above influenced the current efficiency and lithium content in the alloys. As the electrolysis time prolong, the lithium content in the alloys increased and reached a stable value.It was found that the lithium content of 12 wt.% and current effi ciency reached 78%.in Li-Al alloys can be obtained by Molten salt electrolysis method,and the phase compositions of the Li-Al alloys were alpha- and beta-Aluminum Lithium from X-ray diffraction analysis.It showed the potential of the process for production of Li-Al al loys used as lithium battery anode material.
