Study on preparation of TiAl-based microlaminated sheet

The microstructure and properties of TiAl-based microlaminated sheet fabricated by EB-PVD are discussed by means of scan electron microscopy (SEM) ,transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and tensile test at room temperature and high temperature. The results indicate that the microstructure of TiAl-based alloys sheet is non-flat columnar crystal and the substructure is crescent pattern. The microstructure of the Nb layers in TiAl/Nb microlaminated sheet is bulky equiaxed crystal. The NiCoCrAl layers in TiAl/NiCoCrAl micro laminated sheet are mainly composed of ?-Ni phase with the microstructure of flat columnar crystal. The mechanical properties of TiAl-based microlaminated sheet are much better than that of the TiAl-based alloys sheet at room and high temperature.Especially at about 750℃ ,the toughening effects of TiAl/NiCoCrAl microlaminated sheet is the best,and the elongation percentage is as high as 72.2%. TiAl/ Nb microlaminated sheet has the best combination properties at high temperature,and the tensile strength at high temperature is as high as 443.1 MPa almost equivalent with that at room temperature.
