Internal friction of neutron irradiation vanadium and its alloys
The behavior of oxygen and nitrogen impurities in vanadium and its alloys with Ti,Cr and Ca is studied using low-frequency internal friction. The investigations were carried out before and after fast neutron irradiation at 400℃to a neutron fluence of 4.24 x 1025 m-2(E>0.1 MeV).It was found that, before irradiation, oxygen and nitrogen impurities in vanadium and V-Ga alloys are in a solid so lution, whereas,in V-Ti and V-Ti-Cr alloys, they are fixed apparently with titanium. After irradiation oxygen and nitrogen impurities does not leave the interstitial positions in the lattice in V-Ga alloys (in contrast to unalloying vanadium, were they occupy radiation de fects). In V-Ti and V-Ti-Cr alloys oxygen and nitrogen atoms are fixed to form chemical compounds before and after neutron irradiation.
