Effects of aging treatment and strain amplitude on internal friction of porous NiTi shape memory alloys
NiTi shape memory alloys (SMAs) with different porosities were fabricated. Then damping capabilities of the fabricated por ous NiTi SMAs were characterized by internal friction (IF) analysis using a dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA). The results showed that the IF peaks of the porous NiTi SMAs show different strain amplitude dependence when the testing amplitude was changed in the range of 10-3-10-2. The amplitude dependence of IF also showed that there is an amplitude limit for IF test of the porous NiTi alloys.Furthermore,the effect of aging treatment and porosity on the IF behavior was analyzed and discussed.
