Phosphorus and nitrogen Co-doped TiO2-Mo2O3:Preparation and enhanced photocatalytic activities under visible light
Phosphorus and nitrogen co-doped Ti02-Mo03((P,N)-Ti02/Mo203) was prepared by a one step sol-gel method and was foynd to be a novel visible light-driven photocatalyst, which showed enhanced photocatalytic activities in photodegradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation. When the atom ratio of Mo03 to TiO2 reached 0.3,the photocatalyst exhibited best photocatalytic per formance. The color bleaching rate and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) removing rate were 13.5 and 3.4 times of those of Degussa P25,respectively.It is indicated that Mo2O3 was found to be formed during the preparation processes, and both phosphorus and nitrogen were doped into the composites of Ti02/Mo203 by XRD and XPS. On the other hand,Electron Spin Resonance Spectra showed that oxy gen vacancies (OV) and Ti3+ species were formed in the samples, which were thought to improve the absorption active sites on the sur face of the photocatalysts, introducing the color centers and inducing the improvement of visible light photocatalytic activities. Moreover, three possible mechanisms have been proposed for the enhancement of absorption and photocatalytic activities under visible light at the same time.
