Luminescence enhancement of SrSi2O2N2 : Eu2 + phosphors by codoping with Ca2+,Zn2+ and Mn2+ ions

The oxonitride phosphors Sr1-ySi202N2 :yEu2+ have been prepared by solid state reaction. The effects of the activator concen tration and the overall composition of the host lattice on optical properties have been investigated.It has been demonstrated that the Eu2+ doped SrSi2O2N2 phosphor shows efficient green emission with peak at around 540 nm and the most intense emission can be obtained when y =0.04. The luminescent intensity of Eu2+is increased greatly with the codoping of Ca2+ ,Zn2+ or Mn2+. The phenomenon is analyzed and possible reasons are explained in terms of the different ion radius between Ca2+ ,Mn2+ ,Zn2+ and Sr2+.
