Electrodeposition of silicon in room temperature ionic liquid 1 -butyl-3 -methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate
The electrodeposition of silicon was investigated in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate (BmimOTf) con tained with 1 mol/L SiCl4 and propylene carbonate (PC).Cyclic voltammograms showed the possibility of electrodeposition of silicon at -2.6 V versus Pt quasi-R.E.When cell voltage was 3.5 V and temperature was 35 ?,it yielded porous and grey deposit with the thickness of 20 nm for 4 h.From the scanning electron microscope image,it was found that the deposits were smooth and compact. The X-ray diffraction result showed that the product was amorphous silicon.
