Crystallographic aspects of technological treatment of Zr-based alloys for nuclear industry
Manufacture of products from Zr-based alloys for nu clear industry is characterized by the very high scientific capacity and can develop effectively only with the per manent scientific support. The given paper contains the survey of methodical elaborations and X-ray investiga tions on zirconium themes, fulfilled in Moscow Engi neering Physical Institute at Department Physical prob lems of materials science.Behavior of Zr alloys under technological treatment and exploitation of products is determined to a considerable extend by crystallographic features of operating mechanisms of structure formation as well as by crystallographic textures, which arise in semi-products and products.Knowledge of mechanisms and regularities of texture formation in Zr alloys is the necessary condition for obtaining of products with a re quired anisotropy of physico-mechanical properties.Be sides ,the texture can be considered as a very sensitive indicator of various processes, taking place in Zr alloys under that or another technological treatment. Authors have elaborated a complex of X-ray methods for struc ture and texture studies as applied to products from Zr alloys,so that by means of these methods extensive data were accumulated concerning crystallographic aspects of their technological treatment and the most complete de scription of their structure features became possible.
