Study on preparation and properties of nano-Y2O3 powder

Y(NO3) 3 and ammonia used as raw materials,nano-Y2O3 powder was successfully synthesized by homogeneous precipitation method. The crystal structure,morphology and optical property of the powder were characterized using XRD,SEM,IR and photolumines cence spectra. The results indicated that nano-Y2O3 powder was the body-centered cubic structure with an average size of 35 run. The Y2O3 powder was well crystallized with high purity.Nano-Y2O3 powder had excellent adsorption capability since the size of Y2O3 powder was small. The fluorescence spectra of as-prepared nano-Y2O3 powder showed that the wave length of emission spectrum was at 610 nm,while the wave length of excitation spectrum was in the range of 240-260 nm.
