Fabrication of TiO2 nanofiber mat with high photocatalytic activity by electrospinning

TiO2 nanofibers mats with high photocatalytiC activity have been fabricated by electrospinning. The morphologies and struc tures of the resulting nanofibers mats were analyzed by scanning electron micrograph (SEM),X-ray diffraction.It was found that the TiO2 fiber is a multi-pore fiber when the diameter is about 200 nm,while it is a fiber with many pits on its surface when its diameter is about 40 nm.UV-Vis spectrometer has been used to characterize the optical property of TiO2 nanofibers mat and the absorbance value of the methylene blue (MB) solutions photocatalyzed by the TiO2 nanofibers mat.It is interesting to find that photocatalyzed by TiO2 nanofi bers mat,the MB solution was completely decolored within 2 h under summer sunlight irradiation. The TiO2 nanofiber mat fabricated in low environment humidity has higher photocatalytiC activity than that of fabricated in high environment humidity.
