Isothermal ozidation behavior of laser clad Ni-20Cr coating on molybdenum substrates at 600 C

Ni-20Cr coating has been prepared on molybdenum surface by laser cladding. Through selecting appropriate processing pa rameters ,defect-free Ni-20Cr coating can be obtained on pure molybdenum substrates. The microstructure observation from SEM demon strates that the coating is free of cracks and pores,and metallurgically bonds with the substrate.XRD and EDS analysis results show that Mo diffused to the Ni-20Cr coating,and formed oxide with Ni and Mo. The oxidation behavior of the coating indicated that laser clad Ni-20Cr coating can effectively prevent oxidation of molybdenum at high temperature in air.
