Preparation of boron by molten salt electrolysis

Boron was produced from KCl-KF-B2O3 electrolyte system by molten salt electrolysis method.B2O3 dissolved in the mixture of molten KCl and KF,electrolysis process was studied at 1058 K for 6 h. The phase composition,particle size and morphology of cathode products were analyzed by XRD and sEM,respectively. The results showed that cathode product is amorphous boron,the particles are spherical,fine (<1μm) and uniform.
