Stability of ZrO2 in ZrO2 -C composite materials
Y2O3-stabilized ZrO2 and MgO-stabilized ZrO2 powders were prepared with ZrOCl2-8H2O,Y(NO3)3?H2O,Mg(NO3)2?6H2O and ammonia water,and ZrO2-C composite materials containing 20 wt.% graphite and 80 wt.% ZrO2 powders were prepared by using phenolic resin as binder. The slag resistance test was carried out by static crucible method. The effects of stabilizers amounts and reaction temperature on the stability of ZrO2 in ZrO2-C composite materials were investigated. The results showed that when pco was 0.1 MPa and the temperature was above 1926 K,ZrO2 in ZrO2-C composite materials was unstable.Comparing with MgO stabilizer,Y2O3 stabilizer could increase the thermal stability of ZrO2 dramatically. The slag test showed that ZrO2-C materials containing Y2O3 sta bilizer had the best slag corrosion and penetration resistance.
