Study on the characteristics of particles dispersion strengthened aluminum bronze coating
Aluminum bronze is used as a kind of coating material in some industrial fields.In order to apply it more widely,aluminum bronze coating was fabricated by atmosphere plasma spraying nano-Al2O3 dispersion strengthened aluminum bronze powders. The coating cohesion strength,hardness and wear resistance are investigated and compared with aluminum bronze coating. The microstructure of the coating was analyzed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersion spectroscopy (EDS). The results reveal that the submicron particle,which generated during the spring,equably dispersed in coating and these particles improved the coating cohesion strength and wear resistance while keeping the hardness. The wear resistance of the dispersion strengthened aluminum bronze coating was 3 times higher than that of aluminum bronze coating,and wear mechanism of former was ploughing while the latter was abscission particle caused by fatigue crack.
