Ozidation behavior of SiC/Si-Mo multilayer coated C/SiC composites
A SiC/Si-Mo multilayer coating on C/SiC composites was prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) combined with slur ry painting. The oxidation behavior of the coated sample was investigated further. After 150 h oxidation at 1400℃ ,the oxidation weight loss of the coated sample is only 9.91 x 10 -4 g/cm2,which shows the coating could provide longtime protection for C/SiC composites. The oxidation weight loss with time accords with linear rule between 500-1000℃and reaches the maximum at 800℃The oxidation process at 500-800℃ is controlled by C-O reaction and the active energy is 90.2 kJ/mol. That at 800-1000℃is controlled by oxygen diffusion through cracks and the activation energy is 153.9 kJ/mol. Above 1000℃,cracks are obviously sealed and the oxidation process is complex, controlled by diffusion of oxygen through cracks, sealing of cracks and diffusion of oxygen in the formed SiO,layer.
