Estimating Wear Volume of Polymer Compound Based on Two Dimensions Surface Figure

The polymer compounds have characteristics of light mass and lubricate-self when they are applied in contact surface. Therefore, they are applied in more and more engineering area. One of these applications is to transmiss yarn to textile in the multi-bar warp knitted machine. It is necessary to measure the wear volume of polymer compound in order to get accurate transmission when the wear appears in precision driving. It is very difficult to measure little wear volume by common measurement. Using the characterizations of the worn surface morphology of polymer compounds with fractal theory, the wear volume of polymer compound was estimated. The result was used to practice in working. This measurement can get an approximate wear volume that is useful to evaluate wear volume with a short test time. In test, it was 1600 hours by estimate in the multi-bar warp knitted machine before polymer compound was wear out. In practice, the polymer compound did not wear out until 1790 hours.
