A Technique of Data Streams Speculation for Heterogeneous MC-DSPs

This paper introduces a large-scale heterogeneous Multi-Core Digital Signal Processors (MCDSP) prototype constructed with super-nodes,PolyDSP,and proposes a data speculation technique based on customized Data Streams Transmission Control Engine (DSTCE). This technique improves the efficiency of data streams transmissions within single super-node and among super nodes. The innovation of this technique is that it combines a data speculation solution with the programming model of MC-DSPs,avoids complex cache coherence problems,and increases the parallelism between data processing and memory accessing for MC-DSPs significantly. Our simulation results show that,the performance of single super-node of PolyDSP is improved by 22% on average,and the performance of PolyDSP with two super-nodes based on DSTCE is 14% higher than that of based on CC-NUMA structure.
