Investigation onAir-Injection Feeding for Sintering of Iron Ores

Based on hydromechanics, dynamic theory of the air-injection feeding was studied, the air-flow feeding device was designed according to sinter field conditions, and the influences of air-injection process variables on the segregation effect were investigated. It was found that the air-injection feeding was able to change the falling speed and moving track of the granules which were different physical and chemical characters to make the sinter mix pile up along the sintering bed orderly. The optimum value of nozzle angle, airspeed and moisture content were 10°, 50 m/s, 8.5% respectively. The results of the sinter pot test showed that comparing to the conventional feeding, the air-flow feeding could not only reduce the solid fuels consumption notably (from 56.99 kg/t to 52.88 kg/t), but increase the productivity obviously (from 1.401 t/m2·h to 1.558 t/m2·h) under the condition of the tumbling index keeping unchanged.
