Fundamental Research onApplying Organic Binder SHN to Ozidized Pellets
A new organic binder SHN is introduced, which is a synthetic polycomplex for replacing bentonite to produce oxidized pellets. The results of laboratory experiments showed that SHN could fit almost a lot of concentrate, such as magnetite, hematite and so on, which came from several pellets plants. It was found that 0.04%-0.06% SHN could replace 2%-3% bentonite. For pellets prepared by SHN, the wet drop strength was more than 4.7 times/P, the wet compressive strength more than 11.5N per pellet, the shock temperature larger than 500 ℃, the compressive strength of preheated pellets more than 450 N per pellet and the compressive strength of fired pellets surpassed 2400 N per pellet. Based on the results of laboratory research, the industrial experiment of applying SHN was carried out in ChengChao pellet plant, which was studied by single-disc balling experiment, preheating experiment of casting cages and the systemic experiment of replacing bentonite completely. The results of industrial experiments showed that the suitable dosage of SHN is 0.048-0.06%, and pellets were prepared and their wet drop strength was more than 3.6 times/P, the compressive strength of preheated pellets ranged from 378 to 559 N per pellet, and the compressive strength of fired pellets was in the range of 2800-3000 N per pellet. If SHN replaces bentonite to prepare pellets, the grade of iron in pellets can be heightened by 1.0-1.8%, and the qualities of pellets will be improved.
