Study on the Selection of Reasonable Bentonite for Grate-Kiln Pellet Plant

E-Kou iron concentrate is very fine, but most of the ultra-fine particles being in the size range of 10-50 μm and big particle only occupying small proportion, such characters are not conducive to the granulation of green pellet. So the consumption rate of bentonite was very high and the total iron content of pellet under 63% at initial period of Grate-Kiln pellet plant production. In order to meet the quality demands of 4350 m3 BF, a series of comprehensive laboratory studies and industrial trials are carried out in order to reduce the consumption rate of bentonite by experimenting 15 kinds of bentonite. Finally F bentonite is selected and pellet iron content reaches 64.5%. Now the 4350 m3 BF operates smoothly after using E-Kou pellet This studies also provide technical reference for other pellet plant which using similar character iron concentrate such as E-Kou iron concentrate in Shanxi area.
