Review of Energy Saving and Emission Reduction in Iron Making Process
Energy saving and emission reduction affect not only climate change, but also the production cost. In this paper, the unit energy consumption of major iron making processes as well as energy saving and emission reduction technologies were reviewed and evaluated quantitatively. The research showed that, the large direct reduction shaft furnace has the minimum specific energy consumption and emission, followed by large blast furnace and COREX smelting reduction process. The energy saving and emission reduction technologies were ranked as below according to the contribution: super large blast furnace, adding 200kg/t of low grade scrap or DRI with 70% metallization ratio into blast furnace directly, PCI technology replacing coke, iron making furnace top pressure recovery technology (TRT), coke dry quenching technology (CDQ), gas dry dust removal technology, sintering waste heat recovery technology.
